January 11th, 2023 marks 30 years that have been filled with gratitude, diligence, and dedication toward building Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen as we know it today. Though the past 30 years have had their challenges, they’ve been nothing short of rewarding.
In 1993, Russell Ybarra took a leap of faith and opened a restaurant in a little pink building that had previously been unsuccessful many times. “Gringo’s was not supposed to happen, yet despite all odds, it did and quickly became a staple eatery in a once small town” says Russell. “Gringo’s is a very special place and it’s not because we serve delicious Tex-Mex, but because of our dedicated team members & our loyal guests for believing and trusting in us.”

2022 | Gringo’s “The Original” | Remodel
2022 | Gringo’s College Station
Since then, there have been 13 other locations opened throughout the Greater Houston Area, and most recently, our 15th location in College Station. It is because of Russell’s relentless focus on our guests, his team members, and food quality that Gringo’s is celebrating 30 years of Tex-Mex. We are humbly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our local communities in every way we can.
We will be celebrating all month long at all of our locations to commemorate our 30th anniversary. We are bringing back a few Throwback items including the Sombrero & Fajitas Rancheros to name a few. Between January 2nd – January 15th, when you dine-in or order to-go, you will receive “The Whole Enchilada” scratch off, where guests have a chance at winning Free Gringo’s for a year.
We couldn’t have achieved any of our success without the very hard working team members that have been a part of this amazing journey, and of course, our most loyal guests. Thank you to every single one of you for being an instrumental part of our success and making this milestone possible. All of us at Gringo’s are eternally grateful for you choosing to dine at our restaurants. Cheers to 30 more!
